Financial Systems Engineer, Business Analyst

Position Summary
The Financial Systems Engineer, Business Analyst plays a critical role at the intersection of finance and technology. This position is responsible for the design, integration, and ongoing management of the company’s financial platforms, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the business. By combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of financial operations, the Financial Systems Engineer will enable greater automation, accuracy, compliance, and insight across the organization. This position will sit within finance, reporting to the Deputy CFO, but afford a tight collaboration with the IT department for interdepartmental cross-functional support.

Core Responsibilities

System Ownership & Administration

• Serve as the primary administrator for core financial systems, including ERP, billing, procurement, and expense platforms.
• Configure, maintain, and optimize system functionality to align with business requirements.
• Oversee system upgrades, releases, and enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Integration & Automation

• Design and implement integrations between financial applications and other enterprise systems using APIs, middleware, and data pipelines.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation that reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy.
• Develop scripts, workflows, and tools to support end-to-end financial processes.

Data, Reporting & Insights

• Build and maintain reporting solutions and dashboards that support financial planning, accounting, and leadership decision-making.
• Assesses analytics and reporting needs; in time providing recommendations for enhanced solutions and specifications for business intelligence tools
• Supports the delivery of BI solutions to internal and external customers
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across financial systems.
• Support Finance, Accounting, and FP&A teams with ad hoc analysis and system-driven reporting needs.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Establish and enforce system controls to protect sensitive financial data.
• Manage user roles, permissions, and access in accordance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (SOX, GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
• Ensure systems are audit-ready and support compliance with financial and operational controls.

Collaboration & Support

• Act as a bridge between Finance, Accounting, IT, and external vendors, ensuring alignment on system needs and priorities.
• Provide training, documentation, and support to end-users.
• Actively participate in finance transformation initiatives and process improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience working with financial systems in a technical or functional capacity.
• Hands-on expertise with one or more major platforms such as Intacct SAGE, Rippling, Salesforce, Concur, SQL.
• Strong knowledge of financial processes including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, financial statement presentation.
• Experience with APIs, system integrations, and data management; proficiency in SQL or other query/reporting tools preferred.
• Planning, analytical, and conceptual skills to evaluate business problems and identify and apply appropriate solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with cloud-based financial applications and SaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of structured project management methodologies.
• Background in finance, accounting, or audit strongly preferred.
• Some experience with Power BI or similar visualization software desirable
• Some experience with Data Management (e.g., SQL) desirable
• Basic programming knowledge (Python or R) desirable
