Find-A-Friend Mentor Case Manager

About us:

The Find-A-Friend (FAF) Program, established in 1982 under an initiative by Governor Hunt, is one of North Carolina’s pioneering youth mentoring programs. Since its inception, FAF has expanded to include afterschool and wrap-around support services designed to empower at-risk and court-involved youth.

Serving over 200 youth annually, FAF has achieved a 96% success rate in helping participants stay out of trouble and succeed in school. Recognized as a Champion for Children by the Child Advocacy Center, the program continues to make a measurable impact in the community.

Position Summary:

The Mentoring Case Manager is responsible for overseeing case management services, supporting youth and families, and coordinating mentor relationships within the FAF program.

Responsibilities:

Case Management & Youth Services

  • Conduct assessments, intakes, and placements for youth participants
  • Provide one-on-one support and mentoring services
  • Conduct home and school visits as needed
  • Facilitate or assist with group sessions for youth and parents

Mentor Coordination

  • Match youth with appropriate mentors
  • Support and monitor mentor/mentee relationships
  • Assist with volunteer training and development

Program Operations

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and program materials
  • Manage program communications (phone, email, mail)
  • Assist with transportation of youth and program materials as needed

Community Engagement

  • Advocate for FAF/FUM programs with families, volunteers, and community partners
  • Participate in trainings, workshops, and outreach efforts

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Management, or related field
  • OR Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • Strong leadership, integrity, and professionalism
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a good driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
