Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures, along with the Administration, that the mission of East Catholic High School, the charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, and the Catholic identity of the school are clearly articulated and carried out to all constituents.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Demonstrates a mastery in a variety of drawing, painting, and sculpting mediums
- Possesses the ability to communicate knowledge in creative and engaging ways that align with curriculum and student needs
- Exhibits flexibility in teaching approach for a range of student ages and skill levels
- Demonstrates a strong ability and desire to foster artistic skill in students seeking to grow in their abilities and/or pursue art at the collegiate level
- Fosters creativity and artistic expression in a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
- Have high motivation and task orientation
- Have superior instructional skills, with a commitment to interdisciplinary instruction
- Carry out teaching assignments effectively
- To work as a department member and a member of the faculty
- To consult with teachers, administrators, staff, and parents on a continuous basis
- To carry out all facets of the position consistently and enthusiastically
- Connecticut Teaching Certificate or previous teaching experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Art Education or equivalent
- References (both professional and personal)
- Must submit to a background check and Virus training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
