Job Overview
A fine dining host manages the first and last impressions, warmly greeting and seating guests, handling reservations (phone/in-person), and orchestrating the dining flow by coordinating with servers, all while maintaining a polished appearance, managing waitlists, and ensuring a seamless, luxurious guest experience with meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Guest Welcome & Seating: Warmly greet guests, verify party size, manage waitlists, provide accurate estimates, escort them to tables, and present menus.
- Reservation Management: Handle bookings (in-person, phone, digital) and manage seating charts to optimize table turnover and server workload.
- Coordination: Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service pacing and guest satisfaction.
- Environment Maintenance: Keep the host stand, waiting area, and dining room spotless, ensuring proper table settings, clean menus, and a polished atmosphere.
- Guest Service: Answer inquiries, address special needs (children, elderly, allergies), resolve complaints, and create a welcoming environment.
- Administrative Duties: Assist with side work, answer phones, process payments (sometimes), and document guest preferences or special requests.
Requirements
- Customer Service: Exceptional communication, professionalism, and a calm demeanor under pressure.
- 1 year experience as a host
- Organization: Ability to multitask, manage time, and maintain organization in a fast-paced setting.
- Attention to Detail: Immaculate standards for cleanliness, presentation, and guest needs.
- Teamwork: Willingness to support staff and maintain positive working relationships.
- Fine Dining Etiquette: Understanding of restaurant hierarchy and service standards.
