Performs responsible technical work taking and processing all non-criminal finger prints from the general public. (CCW, Daycare, Nursing, Security, 911, and all other applicable prints).
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class is responsible for fingerprinting the general public who are applying for concealed carry permits, daycare, nursing, security, etc. in Davidson County. Position may also perform routine clerical support duties as necessary and time permits. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Sheriff Captain and Sheriff Lieutenant.
Illustrative Examples of Work
- Receives applicants wanting to get their CCW permit.

Takes a digital photo of the applicant’s fingerprint using a LiveScan digital machine.

Enters fingerprints into AFIS.

Processes the photo of the fingerprint with the applicant’s identifying data.

May assist the office support staff with clerical duties as needed.

Adheres to the department’s safety rules and regulations.

Performs other related duties as required.
Recruitment and Selection Guidelines

Ability to use a LiveScan Digital machine to fingerprint CCW applicants.

Ability to apply basic upkeep of the LiveScan Digital machine.

Ability to perform basic office support duties.

Ability to read and write.

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, hearing and repetitive motions.

Work is sedentary and may require long periods of time sitting, and exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Must possess visual acuity necessary to visually inspect small defects or parts, use measurement devices and assemble or fabricate parts at distances close to eyes; ability to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Must be able to perform mechanical work of a non-repetitive nature and operate mechanical equipment.

Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not from temperature changes.

Must be able to work in conditions that are subject to contact with potentially infectious bodily fluids.
Education and Experience

High School education/diploma with some computer and office experience.

Must pass a criminal background screening.
Licenses and Certifications

North Carolina Driver License.
