1. Responds to Alarms of fire or other emergencies in accordance with department procedures.
2. Participates in training sessions and attends classes in firefighting, hazardous materials, rescue, and related subjects.
3. Under the supervision of the Fire Department Officers, the Firefighter performs advanced firefighting work in preventing, combating, and extinguishing fires, responding to hazardous materials incidents and emergency calls which include special rescue situations.
Prospective firefighters must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. Prospective firefighters will take the entrance fire exam. The exam includes a written section, tests of physical fitness, a medical evaluation, and an interview with the officer group and trustees. Applicants with the highest scores will be scheduled for weeks of formal training.
