Fire Specialist

Under general supervision, this position controls and extinguishes fires and protects life and property. Maintains all fire equipment. Assists in educating the public regarding fire prevention and safety. Performs facilities and grounds maintenance duties. Reports to the Lieutenant.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent with a satisfactory performance evaluation as a FIREFIGHTER/APPARATUS OPERATOR or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Successfully completed the following curriculum as determined by the SC Fire Academy:

• Incident Safety Officer
• National Incident Management System (NIMS) 700
• Fire Instructor I
• Fire Officer I
