Fire Truck/Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background with experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a thorough understanding of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and the ability to work with various types of machinery including trucks, excavators, and farm equipment. The Diesel Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring our fleet and equipment are in optimal working condition.

Duties

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, and tractor-trailers.
• Conduct diagnostics to identify issues using schematics and automotive diagnostic tools.
• Repair or replace components such as transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC systems.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of service performed on vehicles and equipment.
• Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
• Assist in the assembly of new equipment as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards while performing heavy lifting and tire service tasks.

Experience

• Previous experience as a mechanic or service technician is required; dealership experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in diesel engine repair, automotive repair, brake repair, shocks & struts maintenance, and alignment services.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including forklifts and farm machinery is essential.
• Mechanical knowledge encompassing electrical systems and soldering skills is preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
