Monday to Saturday: 5pm to 8am

Sunday: 8am to 8pm and 8pm to 8am

Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and dependable Fire Watcher to ensure safety and compliance on construction sites during activities that involve hot work, such as welding, cutting, or grinding. This vital role involves monitoring designated areas to prevent fire hazards, conducting inspections, and maintaining clear communication with site personnel and emergency responders. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe working environment for all team members. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to construction safety initiatives while working alongside skilled tradespeople and project managers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor designated construction areas during hot work operations to detect potential fire hazards promptly.
• Conduct regular inspections of the site, including areas with open flames or sparks, ensuring fire safety protocols are followed diligently.
• Maintain constant vigilance throughout shifts, staying alert for signs of fire or unsafe conditions.
• Communicate effectively with construction teams to coordinate hot work schedules and safety procedures.
• Keep detailed logs of inspections, incidents, and safety checks for compliance documentation.
• Respond quickly to any fire alarms or emergencies by alerting appropriate personnel and emergency services if necessary.
• Ensure all fire prevention equipment, such as extinguishers and fire blankets, are accessible, functional, and properly maintained.

Requirements

• Prior experience in construction site safety or related roles is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of fire safety protocols, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures.
• Familiarity with construction tools and equipment such as hand tools, power tools, scaffolding, and heavy machinery operation is advantageous.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics related to construction projects.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent observational skills for identifying hazards early.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, or remain alert for extended periods during shifts.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with diverse teams on-site.
• Certifications in OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards or fire safety training are a plus but not mandatory. Join us in creating safer construction environments! Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
