The Lakeville Fire Department is hiring a full-time Firefighter. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about public service and dedicated to protecting lives and property. As a full-time Firefighter in our hybrid department, you will be part of a diverse team of both career and Paid-on-Call Firefighters working together to provide fire protection, emergency medical services, and public safety education. You will respond to a variety of emergencies and be involved in prevention efforts and community engagement to help keep Lakeville safe. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responds to emergencies in a safe, effective, and proficient manner. Responds to medical and fire emergencies. Performs fire and/or EMS activities which include, but are not limited to: emergency medical care, fire suppression, rescue activities, operation of Fire/EMS equipment, and additional pertinent tasks. Assists in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing, as necessary, all department equipment. Completes proper checklists and reports damaged and improperly functioning equipment.Maintains facilities and performs housekeeping duties as directed.Assists in fire prevention duties and fire prevention education, etc.Assists with completion of assigned property inspections to ensure they are in compliance with applicable fire codes, ordinances, laws, regulations and standards.Conducts station tours for the public, schools, and community demonstrations and programs.Maintains all required EMS (EMT) and firefighter certifications/license.Keeps current of department training expectations and developments to ensure techniques and practices are utilized. May be requested to conduct training based on topic expertise.Keeps a superior officer advised of fire suppression developments and performs other duties as apparent or assigned.ScheduleAble to work any shift assigned, including weekends and holidays. Available to work overtime as assigned and as needed on an emergency basis.Attend required training per month as required by department policy. Physical DemandsNormal vision needed with or without correction. Requires both near and far acuity. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 115 pounds. Must be able to drag an object weighing 115 lbs. or more. Walking and/or other mobility: Must be able to walk and crawl while carrying or lifting.Must be able to ascend and descend stairs or ladders while carrying or lifting.Must be able to balance and have the ability to steady oneself and keep from falling. Must be capable of reaching/extend the hands or arms in any direction; Must be capable of grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hands.Must be capable of picking, pinching with fingers; feeling (perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by means of receptors in skin, particularly those of the fingertips) Must be able to operate equipment; hand tools, power tools, light and heavy equipment and operates fire apparatus.Must be able to multiply, divide, use fractions and read graphs (fire pump operations). Must be able to read textbooks. Must be able to interpret instructions and use logic to solve problems.
