About Our District
The Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District currently consists of 14 Career Members, 35 Volunteer Firefighters & Support Members, 5 Volunteer Administrative Staff, 3 Resident Firefighters, and 2 Cadets.
We respond to over 1,000 calls annually and have six stations located throughout our district.
Our service area includes the Pacific coastline, rivers and flood zones, sand dunes, state and federal forests, major highways, rural farms and communities, and heavy seasonal tourism areas.
We are not a transporting EMS agency, but we respond to a large volume of EMS calls involving an aging population that largely remains in private homes rather than assisted living facilities. This is a demanding and highly rewarding position in which firefighters are expected to perform at a high level and contribute significantly to the success of the organization.
The Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District is seeking highly motivated, professional, and hard-working individuals to join our career firefighter team on the Oregon Coast.
This is not a “sit around and wait for calls” fire department. Our firefighters are expected to train hard, work hard, maintain operational readiness, and be capable of handling a wide variety of emergencies across a large and diverse response area. In return, firefighters become part of a progressive, highly trained, close-knit department that values professionalism, teamwork, physical fitness, skills training, and community service.
NRFPD is an all-hazards combination fire district serving over 300 square miles of rural coastal Oregon with one career station and five volunteer stations. Our career crews respond alongside volunteer station crews to a wide variety of incidents including:
We work closely with C.E.R.T., Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Coast Guard, neighboring fire agencies, and numerous regional partners. We are a department that believes in progressive leadership, realistic training, physical readiness, and operational excellence.
What Makes NRFPD Different
NRFPD is a smaller department with a wide range of job tasks and responsibilities. Career firefighters are expected to be versatile, adaptable, and highly involved in department operations. You will respond to emergencies and maintain the readiness of the entire fire district.
This includes:
Our firefighters train regularly during shifts, including at least one hour of physical fitness training daily while on duty. We also regularly teach and host trainings for surrounding agencies and regional partners.
