Firefighter/EMT - Recruit

Augusta County Fire-Rescue is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Firefighter/EMT Recruit. This is your chance to serve your community, work with state-of-the-art equipment, and build a rewarding career in fire and emergency services.

About the Position:

As a Firefighter/EMT Recruit, you will:

• Participate in a structured recruit academy that includes fire suppression, emergency medical training, and technical rescue operations.
• Learn and apply the fundamentals of firefighting, emergency medicine, and hazard response.
• Respond to emergency calls, including fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and hazardous materials incidents.
• Train and work as part of a team in a high-performance, service-oriented environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old by hire date
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to pass physical agility test, written exam, background check, and medical screening
• No Prior Fire or EMS Certification Required – Training Provided

Preferred Qualifications:

• Virginia or National Registry EMT Certification
• Pro Board Firefighter I & II
• Previous Fire, EMS, or Military Experience

Salary & Benefits:

• Competitive Starting Salary $50,092.00
• 24-Hour Shift Differential is approximately $3,500 annually once released
• Non-Exempt, VRS-Eligible to include Hazardous Duty Supplement, Benefits-Eligible

Employment contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check, drug test, and a department physical exam based on the NFPA 1582 Standard initially and yearly thereafter.
