This job posting is for a Full Time Paid Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic (preferred) with the Boca Grande Fire Control District.

The District covers a land mass that is approximately 7 miles long, ½ mile wide, 3½ square miles in total, and includes the area waters surrounding the island. We operate with a well-equipped fleet that includes an engine company, a ladder company, and a marine rescue vessel concept utilizing a well-established water supply from the Gasparilla Island Water Association. Our Marine Division responds to emergencies in the waters surrounding our District.

In addition to our fire protection responsibilities, we are also an ALS non-transport District. We provide EMS back-up with Lee County EMS, as well as provide ALS services when the ambulance is busy transporting.

We are a career fire department with a dedicated team that currently includes a Fire Chief, two District Chiefs, an EMS Chief, two Lieutenants, twenty Firefighters, and two administrative personnel. We serve a seasonal population of approximately 7,000 residents, which doubles and triples during the winter and spring months.

The District responds to various types of emergencies, both in our District, and with our neighboring Departments outside our District. We strive to provide high quality public education, fire prevention, life safety, and property conservation through the dedicated employees we hire. We are also deeply involved in community related activities and engage the public whenever possible. Our mission is to protect the residents and visitors of Gasparilla Island by delivering the highest level of emergency response and safety.
