Heartwood Public Charter School in Jefferson, New Hampshire, is seeking a kind and experienced First Grade Teacher to join our team for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year, beginning as soon as possible.

Qualifications:
- New Hampshire teacher certification or at least three years of teaching experience preferred
Compensation:
- Annualized salary: $46,465 (prorated for the remainder of the school year)
- No health benefits at this time
Responsibilities:
- Nurture relationships with each student and family
- Guide student learning in math, ELA, and project-based science and social studies Fieldwork experiences
- Monitor and guide students in goal setting and organization
- Adapt place-based & nature-based methods and curriculum to the New Hampshire State Standards and vice versa
- Plan and teach lessons that address New Hampshire State competencies, using curricula specified by the Leadership Team
- Differentiate classroom instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Partner with colleagues, Leadership Team, and families to meet the needs of students
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and team meetings as directed by Director of Curriculum and Instruction
- Work with the Director of Student Support to maintain individualized learning plans for all students
- Assess and track students’ academic progress
- Follow classroom accommodations for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans
- Lead conferences with families three times per school year and communicate with families via email on a regular basis
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Maintain a safe, respectful, positive, organized, and clean classroom environment
- Facilitate student discussions regarding safety and appropriate behavior within the school environment and out in the community
- Act as a mandated reporter for suspicions of neglect and abuse
- Model Heartwood’s values in visible daily actions
- Model peaceful and respectful communication for students in all interactions
- Consistently utilize the Conscious Discipline approach to classroom management and challenging behavior
- Fulfill any other responsibilities deemed relevant and necessary to the position
Qualifications:
- Meet required state and federal background checks
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- NH teaching license or certification or 3 years teaching experience, preferred
- Competence in teaching, classroom management, and all related responsibilities
- Enthusiastic, creative, and loving authority with students
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Leadership Team , and families
- Ability to collaborate with local businesses, individuals, and community partners to plan and coordinate activities and learning experiences
