Job Summary
- Responsible for catching, handling, preparing, and selling fish and seafood products.
- Ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
- Assist in fish processing (fillet, gut, scale, and clean), grading, packaging, and display.
Key Responsibilities
- Catching fish or working with suppliers/boats to procure fresh fish.
- Inspect incoming fish/seafood shipments for quality and freshness.
- Clean, scale, gut, fillet, debone, and portion fish.
- Weighing, packaging, labeling, and storing fish products properly (including cold storage).
- Displaying fish/seafood in the storefront or marketplace in an appealing manner.
- Communicating with customers, advising them on fish types, cooking methods, etc.
- Maintain tools and equipment (knives, filleting equipment) – sharpening, cleaning, safe use.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation in work area, handling fish waste, cleaning surfaces, instruments etc.
- Comply with health, safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1‑2 years minimum experience in fish handling/fish monger or similar role. More experience preferred for senior roles.
- Physical fitness: ability to stand for long periods, work with cold/wet products, and lift loads.
- Knife skills: safe, precise cutting, filleting, etc.
- Knowledge of seafood types, freshness indicators.
- Food safety, hygiene practices (possibly certifications or trainings).
- Good communication skills. Speaking English; Arabic is a plus.
- Valid Qatar ID (QID), possibly other legal documentation.
