Job Summary:
The Fitness Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the fitness operations, including managing a team of coaches, ensuring high training standards, delivering exceptional member experiences, and achieving performance targets. This role requires strong leadership, operational management, and a deep understanding of fitness programming and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Management & Leadership
- Recruit, train, and supervise fitness coaches and personal trainers.
- Create staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all classes and sessions.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions.
- Motivate and develop team members to maintain a high-energy, professional environment.
2. Operations & Program Management
- Oversee daily fitness operations and ensure all sessions start and finish on time.
- Monitor class attendance, coach performance, and member feedback.
- Ensure all training programs are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with brand standards.
- Collaborate with management to create new training concepts or improve existing programs.
3. Member Experience & Engagement
- Maintain a strong floor presence, building relationships with members and promoting retention.
- Address member concerns and ensure consistent customer satisfaction.
- Encourage and support coaches to upsell personal training and other services.
4. Performance & Business Goals
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPI) such as member attendance, revenue, and retention.
- Develop strategies to increase class participation and personal training sales.
- Manage fitness budgets, equipment needs, and maintenance schedules.
5. Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all fitness activities adhere to company safety policies and standards.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and gym hygiene.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure emergency procedures are in place.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fitness management or coaching leadership.
- Strong background in functional training, CrossFit, or group fitness programs.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Certification in Personal Training or Group Exercise (e.g., ACE, NASM, ISSA, CrossFit L1) is required.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
