Fit-Out Interior Designer – Job DescriptionPosition Overview
The Fit-Out Interior Designer is responsible for developing creative design concepts, producing technical drawings, and managing all design-related aspects of interior fit-out projects. The role involves coordinating with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the execution of designs meets quality standards, timelines, and brand objectives.
Key Responsibilities1. Concept Design & Space Planning
- Develop design concepts, mood boards, and presentations based on client requirements.
- Conduct space planning to ensure functional, efficient, and compliant layouts.
- Present design ideas clearly through sketches, 3D visuals, and digital presentations.
2. Technical Drawings & Documentation
- Prepare detailed drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, joinery details, and FF&E schedules.
- Produce construction documentation for fit-out execution and authority approvals.
- Ensure drawings comply with local regulations, fire codes, and project standards.
3. Material, Furniture & Finishes Selection
- Research and select materials, finishes, fixtures, furniture, and lighting.
- Coordinate with suppliers to obtain samples and product specifications.
- Maintain updated knowledge of market trends and new materials.
4. Project Coordination & Support
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and mock-ups.
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide design clarifications.
5. Site Visits & Quality Control
- Conduct periodic site inspections to ensure adherence to the design intent.
- Identify discrepancies and provide corrective guidance to contractors.
- Ensure the execution meets aesthetic and quality standards.
6. Client Communication
- Attend client meetings to understand requirements and provide design updates.
- Incorporate client feedback into design revisions professionally and efficiently.
- Manage client expectations regarding timelines, cost impacts, and deliverables.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in interior fit-out design (retail, commercial, office, F&B, or hospitality preferred).
- Experience working on fast-track projects is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Lumion, or equivalent design tools.
- Strong understanding of interior details, joinery, materials, and site construction processes.
- Knowledge of local authority regulations and design approval procedures.
Soft Skills
- Strong creativity and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Environment
