JOB OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE - Fitter Fabricator

DEPARTMENT - Fabrication

REPORTS TO - Production Supervisor

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fitter Fabricator will construct, position, align, fit and assemble machine or mechanical parts of metal products, in accordance with Company specifications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fit and fabricate large grinding, sizing and material handling equipment.
  • Able to maintain tight tolerances without fixtures.
  • Move materials safely and efficiently using overhead and jib cranes and forklifts when necessary.
  • Hard wire and flux core welding.
  • Strong welding knowledge and use best practices for weld requirements in various conditions.
  • Able to articulate concerns and develop solutions to design problems on a real time basis, working through shop supervision, engineering, sales, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Able to operate forklifts safely, knowledgeable in rigging and lifting large, heavy equipment in tight quarters.

· Able to operate over head and jib cranes.

  • Able to lift and maneuver heavy objects on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment and meet deadlines with strong follow through.
  • Able to select appropriate welding wire and machine operating parameters to optimize weld strength and operator efficiency.
  • Able to hold tolerances for fabricated assemblies and inspect parts.
  • Able to read shop prints.
  • Able to maintain a clean work environment.
  • Able to use hand tools such as grinders.
  • Must have basic tools for the job.
  • Additional Skills in building hydraulic lines, mounting hydraulic systems, and trouble-shooting hydraulic performance issues would be preferred.
  • Additional experience in low voltage electrical wiring and testing would also be preferred.
  • Basic math abilities required to perform fabrication work using fractions.

· Basic Computer skills in order to enter time correctly.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

· 3-5 years of prior shop and trade experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

· Experience in welding and fabrication with an aptitude for learning.

· Demonstrated skills in welding, fabrication and use of shop tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to pass a physical exam.
  • Drug testing before and during employment.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, or smell as well as use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Be able to work in high temp area.
  • Average to above average eyesight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in awkward physical positions required to fit systems, including long periods of standing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, or reaching (including overhead).
  • Must wear safety gear, such as earplugs, goggles and gloves, as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Industrial machine shop setting. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

· The employee is frequently exposed to cold and heat from large areas with openings to the outdoors .

· The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.

· There is machinery, moving equipment (cranes, forklifts, and other moving equipment) and electrical hand tools at the jobsite.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

TYPICAL HOURS / SHIFT

Full Time: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break, Monday – Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
