Fleet Director/Mechanic

About Epic 4X4 Adventures

Epic 4X4 Adventures is Moab’s premier off-road tour and UTV rental company, known for providing unforgettable experiences, industry-leading safety standards, and unmatched guest service. Our team is passionate about adventure, and we’re looking for a full-time, year-round Fleet Director who shares that passion and is ready to lead our operations with energy, accountability, and vision.

About the Role

As our Fleet Director, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations for our guided tours and UTV rental programs, lead multiple departments, and take ownership of fleet readiness, guest satisfaction, sales performance, and team leadership. You’ll be a hands-on leader and a strategic thinker—someone who thrives in the field and the office.

This is not a seasonal position. This year-round position, includes working during off-season to plan, prep, and position the business for success in the upcoming season. 4-Weeks PTO during this time is available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily UTV rental and tour operations, including fleet cleaning, prep, and returns
  • Supervise and support Lot Supervisor, Fleet Technicians, Customer Service Reps, and Guide Supervisor.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and guest-ready office and lot environment
  • Maintain inventory of gear, uniforms, and supplies
  • Coach and lead team members to hit sales and service goals
  • Monitor performance metrics and guest reviews
  • Represent Epic 4X4 Adventures in the local business community
  • Report weekly to ownership on KPIs and operational updates

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of leadership experience in tourism or outdoor recreation
  • 3+ years managing daily operations and team performance
  • Confident leader and problem-solver with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable using booking platforms, CRMs, and POS systems
  • Willing and able to work weekends and holidays during peak season
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Moab, Utah

This is a hands-on leadership role — especially in the early stages. You will be working in the shop, turning wrenches, solving problems, and setting standards while building the team and systems that will support long-term growth.

If you are an experienced mechanic who is ready to step into leadership — or a fleet professional who still enjoys staying close to the work — this is an opportunity to grow into something bigger.

As the team develops and systems are built, the role will naturally shift more toward leadership, oversight, and strategic planning.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Overseeing and performing maintenance and repair on tour, rental, and company vehicles
  • Building and leading the maintenance team
  • Creating organized systems for inspections, documentation, and service tracking (MPWR, Ride Command)
  • Managing vehicle arrivals, VIN inspections, title and registration
  • Coordinating warranty claims and outsourced repairs
  • Forecasting and managing parts inventory
  • Maintaining vendor relationships and overseeing shipping/receiving
  • Ensuring safety compliance and accurate damage reporting
  • Collaborating with leadership on budgeting and cost efficiency

Success Looks Like This

  • Vehicles are safe, clean, and consistently trail-ready
  • Downtime is minimized through proactive maintenance
  • Warranty claims are tracked and recovered efficiently
  • Parts and inventory are organized and predictable
  • The maintenance team grows in skill, accountability, and certification
  • The fleet program runs smoothly — even during peak season

What We’re Looking For

  • Mechanical management or fleet experience
  • Strong knowledge of Polaris systems and off-road vehicles
  • A hands-on work ethic with leadership potential
  • Organized, systems-minded, and detail-oriented
  • Strong communicator who can develop and guide a team
  • A steady presence during busy season
