KR Transport LLC is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation, performance, and quality of our in-house maintenance shop.
This is a high-level leadership role focused on managing people, maintaining fleet standards, and ensuring the shop operates efficiently. This position is not a production mechanic role — it is a hands-on leadership position responsible for running the shop and holding the team accountable.

Key Responsibilities
Shop Leadership & Daily Operations
- Lead and manage shop personnel, including technicians and support staff
- Assign and prioritize daily work to keep technicians productive
- Be the primary decision-maker on the shop floor
- Ensure the shop runs efficiently without constant oversight
Fleet Maintenance & Uptime
- Ensure all trucks and trailers are maintained to company standards
- Own preventative maintenance scheduling and execution
- Coordinate repairs to minimize downtime and keep trucks moving
- Make real-time decisions on repairs and breakdown strategy
Quality Control & Standards
- Inspect and verify completed repairs before equipment returns to service
- Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards
- Eliminate repeat repairs and hold the team accountable for workmanship
- Maintain high standards for equipment cleanliness and presentation
Shop Operations & Workflow
- Oversee all shop operations from intake to completion
- Manage and finalize work orders using Fullbay
- Monitor labor efficiency, repair trends, and recurring issues
- Maintain an organized and efficient shop environment
Scheduling & Coordination
- Coordinate with Operations to schedule trucks for service
- Utilize Samsara, Fullbay, and Toro systems to stay ahead of maintenance needs
- Plan proactively to prevent last-minute disruptions
Breakdown Management
- Serve as primary contact for breakdown coordination
- Work with drivers, vendors, and internal team to resolve issues quickly
- Maintain urgency and strong decision-making under pressure
Customer Work & Billing Oversight
- Oversee outside repair work from intake to completion
- Ensure accurate work orders and billing
- Maintain professional service standards for outside customers
Role Expectations (Important)
- This is a leadership and accountability role, not a production mechanic position
- Hands-on work may be required occasionally, but the primary responsibility is managing the shop and team
- You are responsible for the performance, quality, and day-to-day operation of the shop
- This role requires approximately 50 hours per week and availability for breakdown coordination as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience managing a shop, fleet, or team of technicians
- Strong leadership and accountability skills
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks and trailers (tanker experience preferred)
- Familiarity with shop management systems (Fullbay or similar is a plus)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Licensing
- CDL (Class A) preferred
- Must be willing to obtain CDL if not currently licensed
Compensation
- Starting at $100,000+ based on experience
- Performance-based bonuses tied to shop efficiency and fleet uptime
Schedule
- Full-time position (~50 hours per week typical)
- Availability for breakdown coordination as needed
