Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, diagnose, maintainn repair, and service a wide variety of fleet vehicles, equipment, and specialized vehicles.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Diagnose, perform maintenance, and repair on light vehicles and equipment
Service vehicles with fuel, oil, and coolant; perform preventive maintenance by checking items such as battery condition, tire air pressure, coolant and oil levels, and hydraulic and brake fluid levels
Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently
Perform and assist in the maintenance and repair of light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment
Conduct installation and removal of auxiliary equipment
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition

Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to operate and give instruction for proper operation of the light vehicles and equipment
Ability to diagnose the failure of vehicles and equipment from the trade knowledge and to use diagnostic equipment and decide how properly repair
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; this includes the ability to operate, calibrate, tune, and synchronize, and perform a complex rapid adjustment on equipment, machinery, and tools such as motor vehicles, motorized equipment, mechanic tools, drill press, welder, forklift, hydraulic press, battery tester, steam cleaner, power washer, and/or related materials used in performing essential functions
Ability to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others within well-established policies, procedures, and standards. Ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests from others
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate percentage and decimals
Ability to recognize and identify individual characteristics of colors and odor to determine the condition of fluids, shapes to distinguish objects clearly, sounds to determine if the equipment is operating correctly, track down malfunctions, and textures to detect wear
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of related experience required
Certification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) preferred
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to load noises
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary
Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
Valid state drivers license required
Valid commercial driver's license (A, B, or C with specific endorsements) is prefeed
