Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Fleet Manager/Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of our diverse fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with fleet management responsibilities to ensure all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and farm machinery.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, air brakes, suspension components, HVAC systems, and other mechanical parts.
- Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, cutting, and assembly to modify or repair equipment as needed.
- Operate heavy machinery safely during repairs or testing procedures to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs for all fleet assets.
- Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and specialized diagnostic tools to perform repairs efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations through regular inspections and documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and heavy equipment repair.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems like Caterpillar or other industrial brands.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking; experience with schematics is essential.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and farm machinery.
- Proficiency in electrical systems repair including soldering and troubleshooting complex wiring diagrams.
- Ability to perform tire service, alignments, shocks & struts replacement, brake repairs, transmission work, hydraulic repairs, suspension work, HVAC servicing, diesel engine repairs, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience using hand tools and power tools for assembly or repair tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills for interacting with internal teams or external vendors when necessary.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions; safety awareness is a must. Pay: $29.71 - $35.78 per hour
