FLEET MECHANIC APPRENTICE

The Orem Public Works Department is currently hiring for a Fleet Mechanic Apprentice. This is a part-time, non-benefited position working under the general supervision of the Lead Mechanic and/or Fleet Manager. Fleet Mechanic Apprentices perform semi-skilled to skilled work relating to the maintenance of City of Orem fleet vehicles, equipment, and facility. This position will also assist with welding and fabrication as well as minor repairs and preventative maintenance of City vehicles and equipment. Fleet Mechanic Apprentices will also pick up vehicle parts from vendors and deliver/pick-up vehicles for service.

Requires graduation from high school or equivalent. Basic knowledge of maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of various automotive, heavy truck, small engines, and equipment preferred. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation. Will be subject to random drug testing.

$20.00 hourly.

Up to 28 hours per week.
