Position Mission:
Responsible for the strategic oversight, compliance, and operational management of the company’s fleet supporting plumbing, electrical, and HVAC trade services for multiple locations from Boise, Idaho to St. George, Utah.
Overview:
Intermountain Home Services is hiring a Fleet Operations Specialist. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective fleet operations while maintaining full regulatory compliance across all vehicles, drivers, and programs. The Fleet Specialist oversees fleet logistics, vendor contracts, DOT compliance, MVR monitoring, driver safety, telematics, and performance management to support field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations & Logistics
- Working with Brand Level Fleet Coordinators

Oversee day-to-day fleet operations for service vehicles across plumbing, electrical, and HVAC divisions including some heavy equipment and DOT regulated assets.
- Ensure vehicle availability, proper upfitting, maintenance scheduling, and lifecycle management.

Coordinate with vehicle assignments, replacements.

Monitor fleet utilization, fuel usage, idle time, and operational efficiency for multiple locations.

Partner with brand Operations and field leadership to forecast fleet needs based on growth and seasonal demand.
Fleet Contracts & Vendor Management

Manage Enterprise fleet/leasing partnership and repair shop compliance.
- Negotiate pricing, service agreements, and vendor performance standards.

Oversee relationships with upfitters, maintenance providers, telematics vendors, fuel card providers, and rental partners.

Review and approve fleet-related invoices and expenses.
Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Oversee driver qualification files and DOT documentation.

Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance where applicable.

Develop and enforce fleet safety policies and procedures.

Investigate accidents and coordinate corrective actions with HR.
Driver Training & Monitoring

Implement driver onboarding and ongoing safety training programs.

Monitor telematics and driver behavior reporting (speeding, harsh braking, idling, etc.).

Partner with HR and Safety teams to manage corrective actions related to driving performance.

Promote a culture of safe driving and accountability.
Fleet Programs & Performance Management

Develop and manage fleet programs including fuel management, preventive maintenance, replacement cycles, and sustainability initiatives.

Establish KPIs related to safety, cost control, vehicle uptime, and operational efficiency.

Provide regular reporting and performance dashboards to leadership.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements.
Budget & Financial Oversight

Develop and manage annual fleet budget with brand level leadership.

Track capital expenditures and operating expenses.

Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) for vehicles and recommend optimization strategies.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of fleet management experience, preferably in trade services (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) or field service industries. Logistics, Supply Chain, Automotive Management, or related field are beneficial
- Experience with 3rd party management software like Enterprise Fleet or Fleetio preferred.
- Experience managing DOT-regulated fleets.
- Demonstrated experience with fleet telematics systems and compliance programs.
- Mechanical repair experience and knowledge in order to question and support repair demands.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM)
- DOT Compliance Certification
- OSHA training or safety certifications
