Position Summary
The Fleet/Safety & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of warehouse equipment, fleet, and operational assets.
This role ensures high equipment uptime, structured maintenance programs, and cost-effective asset management across the distribution center, while maintaining safe and compliant operations.
Responsibilities

Own lifecycle management of warehouse equipment and assets (procurement, maintenance, replacement)

Maintain accurate asset tracking and condition reporting

Support CapEx planning and repair vs. replace decision-making

Standardize equipment and maintenance practices

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs

Reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
-
Oversee maintenance of forklifts, conveyors, and warehouse systems
-
Maintain spare parts inventory and maintenance planning
-
Oversee maintenance, inspection, and repair of fleet vehicles
-
Ensure DOT compliance, licensing, and inspections
-
Track utilization, mileage, and performance metrics
-
Manage fleet costs (fuel, maintenance, repairs)

Investigate vehicle incidents and implement corrective actions

Support and enforce workplace safety programs and policies
-
Conduct safety audits and ensure OSHA compliance

Lead incident investigations and corrective actions

Coordinate safety training and reporting
-
Partner with warehouse operations to minimize disruption

Manage vendors and service providers
-
Track downtime, maintenance costs, and performance metrics

Manage maintenance and fleet budgets

Track cost vs. performance of assets

Provide reporting on uptime, cost trends, and asset utilization
Qualifications
-
5–10 years in maintenance, asset management, or operations
-
Experience in distribution, logistics, or industrial environments
-
Strong understanding of equipment maintenance (forklifts, conveyors, etc.)

Experience with preventive maintenance programs

Experience with fleet management (DOT compliance preferred)

Experience with ERP or CMMS systems
-
Multi-site experience is a plus

Physical Requirements

Moderate walking, standing, and climbing throughout the shift

Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of pallets and products

Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching (up to 15% of the shift), and reaching

Ability to lift and handle objects weighing 30+ pounds on a frequent basis

Exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, dust, cold, heat, and loud noise

Above-average coordination (eye-hand, hand-foot, balance) and physical endurance
