The Fleet Specialist is responsible for providing operational support through the coordination of the quality, service, and administrative functions in the pickup and delivery area. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the dispatch of transportation equipment is in accordance with the dispatch plan, minimizes costs, and ensures service integrity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):

  • Monitor facility reporting metrics related to service, safety, cost, and quality
  • Address potential performance issues with drivers
  • Review inaccuracies in generated reports with Watco team and third-party service providers, and correct as appropriate
  • Communicate day-to-day operations and load plan changes with drivers
  • Investigate and communicate customer service complaints
  • Report schedule delays, accidents, and equipment failures and implement contingency plans


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • High school education or general education development (GED) required
  • Administrative support or customer service experience recommended
  • Experience using web-based routing software preferred
  • Time management and organizational skills preferred in handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with various audiences
  • Use basic computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data entry


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment with frequent interruptions from team members and independent contractors, and regular high noise level.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, and reach with arms
  • Must be able to maneuver and access all areas of the warehouse
