Position Summary
The Fleet Specialist supports construction operations by performing mechanic, welding and fabrication tasks while also assisting with general yard duties. This role is responsible for maintaining equipment, organizing materials, and ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient work yard.
This position reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager located in Plymouth, MN.

Yard & Equipment Duties

Load, unload, organize, and stage construction materials, tools, and equipment

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the yard and work areas

Assist with inventory tracking and report shortages, damage, or missing materials

Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment

Operate forklifts, loaders, or other yard equipment (if certified)

Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations

Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report unsafe conditions
Welding Duties

Perform welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Stick, or as required) on construction materials and equipment

Fabricate, repair, and modify metal components according to drawings or specifications

Inspect welds and finished work to ensure quality, strength, and safety standards

Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting

Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper setup and storage
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent certification in Heavy Equipment Technology or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience working with heavy equipment.

Valid CDL-A license with Tanker endorsement (required).

Proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment and software.

Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, engine diagnostics, and mechanical repairs.

Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.

Ability to travel to jobsites occasionally as needed.
Work Environment

Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, including job sites with varying terrain and weather conditions.

Must be able to work in non-air-conditioned shops and perform tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.

Regular use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.

Position involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and working in tight or elevated spaces.
