The Floater supports classroom teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. This role assists in daily classroom operations, including guiding children through learning activities, supervising routines, maintaining cleanliness, and preparing materials. The floater works closely with staff to meet the individual needs of each child, ensures active supervision, and fosters positive relationships with children and families. Ongoing training and participation in professional development are required to support high-quality early childhood care and education.

  • Assist campus staff and provide proper support to each assigned classroom as needed.
  • Guide children in activities, which promote physical, intellectual, emotional and social development under the supervision of a teacher.
  • Use the appropriate skills to meet social, emotional, physical and developmental needs of individual infants and toddlers.
  • Actively supervise children on playground. Assist in preparation of child development materials in assigned classroom as needed.
  • Assist with arranging the physical environment to meet the changing needs of infants and toddlers.
  • Observe children for safety purposes.
  • Establish and maintain positive communication with children and families.
  • Supervise and guide children during mealtime, toileting/diaper changes, hand washing, rest periods and play activities.
  • Assist in maintaining children’s areas in a neat, sanitary and orderly condition, which may include some cleaning, sweeping and/or mopping in the classroom area.
  • Participate in 20 hours of annual training and all staff development activities, in-service training and workshops as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must obtain age appropriate CDA within one year of employment. Related degrees can be substituted for CDA.
  • Six months of previous childcare experience is required.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of human behavior and have expressive and receptive language abilities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess a special ability to maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers and parents.
  • Ability to work with infants warmly, calmly and in an unhurried way.
  • Insured and reliable vehicle for transportation.
  • Must meet all health and safety requirements, including: Passing a pre-employment and/or periodic physical exam, Annual TB screening, and Background check and renewals as required

  • Must be able to frequently walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.Must be able to twist, turn, kneel, bend, and stoop.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to monitor children’s safety in activities when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
