Floater/Assistant Teacher

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to support classroom instruction and foster a positive learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, special education, and working with diverse student populations, including individuals with disabilities and autism. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of young learners through engaging activities, effective classroom management, and personalized mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing educational activities aligned with curriculum standards such as Montessori or traditional methods.
  • Support students with literacy, math, and other core subjects, tailoring approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Manage classroom behavior and promote positive behavior management strategies to create a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Work closely with children to develop social skills, independence, and confidence through mentoring and individualized attention.
  • Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and provide feedback on developmental milestones.
  • Support students with special needs, including those with autism or other disabilities, ensuring inclusive participation in classroom activities.
  • Maintain classroom organization, assist with proofreading educational materials, and prepare instructional resources.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and team members regarding student progress and behavioral concerns.
  • Uphold all safety protocols and adhere to policies related to childcare and early childhood education standards.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in early childhood education or classroom settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and staff.
  • Background in special education, literacy education, math instruction, or tutoring is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Montessori methods or private school environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating patience and flexibility.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports diverse learning needs.
  • Certification or training in childcare or early childhood education is preferred but not required. This position provides an enriching opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children's growth and learning in a dynamic educational setting.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $13.73 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 40 per week
