Floating Plant Manager

Description:

Purpose:

The Floating Plant Manager is responsible for providing needed services to all main and satellite concrete plants to ensure smooth, consistent and quality operations.

Essential Functions:

• Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety and environmental policies and procedures without exception.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures while promoting and adhering to company values.
• Assumes duties of the opening / closing batch person at all Redi-Mix plants as needed, to include Saturday operations.
• Assists with maintenance duties at all plants, to include plant and minor truck maintenance duties, in order to ensure consistent operations.
• Assists Operations Manager when needed, to include, but not limited to, the shuttling of drivers and/or trucks between plants.
• Distributes, receives, and reviews Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) from all supervising drivers.
• Conducts daily Truck Check-ins to ensure trucks have appropriate fluid and tire pressure levels.
• Assumes dispatcher duties when needed.
• Provide training to dispatch employees when needed.
• Visits satellite plants as scheduled to inspect and ensure they remain operational.
• Runs satellite plants as scheduled, to include Loader Operator / Yardman duties as needed.
• Shadow Quality Control personnel to gain knowledge necessary to assess and correct slump issues. Provides driver training and guidance as needed.
• Actively works to promote teamwork within the Redi-Mix operations and between all divisions of Knight’s whenever possible.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-2 years related experience in a distribution or manufacturing industry.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of concrete batching technology, equipment, methods, and safety is required.
• Working computer knowledge; including applicable Microsoft software.
• Candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to accept and follow direction as provided by managers and ask questions when needed.
• Ability to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in extreme weather, including but not limited to high heat, low temperature, and high sun environments.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to climb and descend stairs.
