Floor Leader - 2nd Shift

PL Developments, also known as PLD, is a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods.

SUMMARY:

The Floor Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations on the production floor. This position requires a combination of leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure efficient and smooth manufacturing processes. The Floor Leader is responsible for supervising production teams, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a positive and safe work environment.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 2pm-10:30pm

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes and equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Capacity to perform effectively in high-pressure situations and adhere to strict timelines
  • Team-oriented with strong leadership abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement work orders as established by the Production Manager(s) and make necessary accommodations for the Production schedule
  • Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules
  • Confirm that each work order scheduled to run on the designated lines meet all the efficiency and quality requirements in order that minimizes downtime or risks of defects or non-conforming materials
  • Act as a liaison between the production team and management to convey important information and updates
  • Oversee the team’s performance, particularly during startup procedures and transitions, to maximize machine uptime
  • Coordinate the execution of the shift production plan for the assigned lines and adjust as needed based on the Production Scheduling Board
  • Interact regularly with the Staging/Warehouse personnel to discuss issues related to components/supply requirements to fulfill orders
  • Supervise all areas of packaging operations to ensure that each line starts/stops on time and is running safely and according to standards to prevent/reduce downtime
  • Communicate regularly with QA personnel to discuss in-process quality levels, specifications, components, and product issues to prevent/minimize downtime
  • Supervise production lines and support Line Leaders in achieving optimal line balance and maximum efficiency by adjusting line speeds as necessary
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Mechanics and other team leaders to explore changes in procedures and practices to improve packaging results
  • Identify and troubleshoot the cause(s) of product/production related problems
  • Assess current and proposed programs for efficiencies and cost improvements.
  • Analyze discrepancies in methods, processes, schedules, and operations, and propose solutions to rectify them
  • Review SOPs with Line Leaders to minimize errors
  • Other duties as assigned by Production Manager and Supervisor

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some light lifting (up to 25 lbs.), working in a production environment
  • Frequent periods of standing and walking
