Florist cum Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Florist cum Assistant to join our floral shop team. This dual role combines creative floral design with essential shop support tasks to ensure excellent customer service and smooth store operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about floral artistry, has strong interpersonal skills, and is eager to contribute to a welcoming retail environment.

Key Responsibilities: Floral Design and Arrangement:

• Design and craft floral arrangements.
• Select, trim, and condition flowers, foliage, and other materials to maintain freshness and create high-quality designs.
• Consult with customers to understand their preferences and recommend floral solutions that meet their needs and budget.
• Ensure proper care and storage of flowers, including watering, refrigerating, and monitoring inventory for freshness.

Shop Support:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing shop, including creating eye-catching floral displays.
• Receive, unpack, and organize floral deliveries and shop supplies, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
• Restock shelves and supplies, ensuring the shop is well-presented and fully stocked.
• Clean and maintain equipment, such as vases, floral shears, and refrigeration units.

Customer Service:

• Greet and assist customers with a friendly and professional attitude, answering questions and offering floral recommendations.
• Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system (cash, card, or digital payments).
• Take and manage customer orders for custom arrangements, ensuring timely preparation and delivery or pickup.
• Address customer inquiries or concerns promptly, escalating to the manager when necessary.

Additional Duties:

• Assist with packaging and preparing floral orders for delivery or customer collection.
• Support event setups by delivering and arranging floral displays at venues as needed.
• Contribute to marketing efforts, such as creating promotional displays or assisting with social media content showcasing floral designs.
• Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, dusting, and maintaining the shop’s exterior.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or certification in floral design is a plus.
• Previous experience as a florist, retail assistant, or in a customer-facing role (1-2 years preferred).
• Knowledge of flowers, plants, and floral design techniques, including arrangement styles and color coordination.
• Strong customer service skills with a warm, approachable, and professional demeanor.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory management.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and handle delicate materials carefully.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems are an advantage.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time or part-time position, with flexibility required for weekends, holidays, and peak seasons (e.g., Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day).
• Work is primarily performed in a retail shop setting, with occasional outdoor tasks for deliveries or event setups.
• Exposure to water, plant materials, and refrigeration units; may involve handling cleaning supplies.

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,000.00 per month
