Perform fluoroscopic imaging procedures as prescribed by radiologists and referring physicians using fixed and mobile fluoroscopy units (e.g., C-Arm).
Prepare fluoroscopy rooms, equipment, and required accessories before procedures, ensuring readiness and safety.
Correctly position patients for fluoroscopic examinations to obtain optimal diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and dignity.
Assist radiologists during dynamic fluoroscopic procedures such as barium studies, HSG, MCU, cystograms, arthrography, GI studies, and interventional procedures.
Operate fluoroscopy equipment by selecting appropriate technical factors (kVp, mA, time) in accordance with approved imaging protocols.
Ensure high-quality image acquisition, review images for diagnostic adequacy, and repeat exposures only when clinically justified.
Explain procedures to patients and attendants in a clear and professional manner to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
Screen patients for clinical history, pregnancy status, allergies, and contraindications related to contrast media.
Administer or assist in the administration of contrast media under the supervision of a radiologist, as per hospital policy.
Continuously monitor patient condition during procedures and immediately report any adverse reactions or emergencies.
Strictly follow radiation protection principles, including ALARA, use of shielding, collimation, and personal dosimeters.
Ensure radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self remains within internationally accepted safety limits.
Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, radiation dose, contrast usage, and examination details in RIS/PACS.
Ensure proper labeling, archiving, and transmission of fluoroscopic images to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
Perform routine equipment checks, report faults, and coordinate with biomedical engineering for maintenance and calibration.
Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs as per departmental and regulatory requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in the fluoroscopy suite in compliance with hospital and international guidelines.
Coordinate effectively with radiologists, nurses, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in continuing education, in-service training, and competency assessments to stay updated with advances in fluoroscopy.
Work in rotating shifts, on-call duties, and emergency situations as per departmental needs.
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and respectful behavior toward patients, attendants, and colleagues at all times.
QUALIFICATION
