Summary Of Position
Kewa Child Care is expanding services in a brand new, state-of-the-art, childcare center. We are looking for a passionate, experienced, food coordinator/cook to join our team. This unique opportunity focuses on blending your experiences with preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks with your ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues and children. The center enhances the quality of meals by supporting a blend of Keres language learning, cooking traditional meals, and sourcing local goods and produce. The incumbent will be responsible for creating menus that align with CACFP standards and requirements, ensuring a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, and committed to providing quality food services. All duties will be performed in accordance with tribal, state, and federal standards, regulations, and laws.
Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of safe food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices.

Ability to plan nutritious meals and snacks and accommodate food allergies

Skill in preparing meals in large quantities while maintaining quality, portion control and presentation

Ability to read and follow instructions accurately

Strong organizational skills, including inventory management, food ordering, and cost control

Ability to maintain accurate meal counts and required documentation

Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures

Minimum Qualifications

High school Diploma or GED equivalent

2 Years minimum experience in a food service setting, preferably in schools and childcare centers

Applicant must be 21 years or older

Food Handlers Certification, First Aid and CPR Certification, 12 hours additional health and safety training
-
Complete Comprehensive Background Check and Drug Screening

Complete required CACFP cook academy and training
-
Valid New Mexico driver's license with ability to meet Santo Domingo Pueblo's liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.

Pleasant and Friendly demeanor and outgoing personality

Highly professional and dependable

Must be willing to travel overnight or out of state for any out of state training

Keres speaking preferred

Must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check including FBI, State, Tribal, MVR check, and a new hire drug screen.
