Food Safety Manager

Savory Fund is looking for a Food Safety Manager who enjoys being in restaurants, working with people, and making food safety practical and doable. You’ll support a growing portfolio of restaurant brands by helping teams do the right things every day, not just when an inspector shows up.

This role will work closely with brand leaders, operators, culinary, and training teams. If you’re someone who can balance high standards with real-world operations, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Partnering with restaurant teams to strengthen daily food safety practices
  • Helping brands prepare for (and respond to) health department inspections
  • Managing third-party food safety audits and following up on corrective actions
  • Spotting patterns and repeat issues — then helping teams fix them for good
  • Visiting restaurants to coach, retrain, and support leaders on the ground
  • Supporting investigations related to guest complaints or food safety incidents
  • Assisting with recalls or product withdrawals when needed
  • Keeping food safety SOPs, tools, and training materials up to date
  • Supporting Certified Food Protection Manager programs and training
  • Providing food safety input on new menus, openings, remodels, and equipment
  • Serving as Savory Fund’s go-to food safety expert across all brands

This is a hands-on role; you’ll spend time in the field, build relationships, and help teams succeed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone approachable, calm, and solutions-focused
  • A strong communicator who can coach hourly teams and talk strategy with leadership
  • Comfortable moving between restaurants, offices, and dashboards
  • Detail-oriented without being rigid or “policy-only.”
  • Curious, collaborative, and always looking for better ways to do things
  • Willing to travel and occasionally support after-hours situations

Experience That Helps

  • 3–5 years in food safety, QA, regulatory compliance, or restaurant operations
  • Strong understanding of the FDA Food Code, HACCP, and food safety regulations
  • Experience working with health departments and/or third-party auditors
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality, or similar)
  • Certifications a plus (not required):
    • ServSafe Manager
    • HACCP
    • Allergen
    • CP-FS or REHS/RS

Why Savory Fund

We invest in and grow emerging restaurant brands, and we believe great systems only work when great people support them.

Our values guide how we show up every day:
Competency • Humility • Integrity • Positivity

You’ll have the chance to make a real impact, work with multiple brands, and help shape how food safety is done across a growing portfolio.
