Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Supervisor

Job Overview
The Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Supervisor will implement food safety management systems and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements at an assigned facility. In this role, you will support the leadership team with thorough understanding of quality assurance safety technology, testing and auditing documentation, data collection and analysis and knowledge transfer. You will provide solutions to the leadership team regarding food safety and quality concerns. Key accountabilities

  • Monitor food safety regulatory activities and plant compliance with regulatory standards and act as a liaison for the business with external regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate, regulatory, and facility food safety and quality requirements, including maintenance and reassessment of the facility HACCP plan as needed.
  • Evaluate standard operating procedures, master schedule, verification, customer food safety and quality requirements and reporting for the team.
  • Act as an intermediary between our customers and the facility to review product performance, conduct quality safety audits, review third party certifications and respond to customer questions and complaints.
  • Implement and maintain product specification systems and drive continuous improvement in processes, customer focus, and overall food safety and quality management systems.
  • Co-lead facility BRC audits and customer audits, including preparation of plant tours, audit readiness activities, and follow-up actions.
  • Develop, administer, and support training programs related to the Food Safety & Quality Management System to ensure team capability and compliance.
  • Coordinate and conduct facility mock trace exercises to validate traceability systems and audit readiness.
  • Assist with various projects relating to safety, food safety, regulatory compliance, environmental initiatives, process improvement, engagement, training, and other areas as needed.
  • Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions for direct reports, while also performing core team tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Bachelor's degree in science, chemistry, microbiology, quality assurance or equivalent experience
  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in product specification development, HACCP Plan Management
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment
  • Experience with BRGCS Accreditation in Poultry Manufacturing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability of leading people, motivation, interpersonal effectiveness, teamwork and successful completion of work
  • Experience interacting with external stakeholders (regulatory agencies, external manufacturers, customers)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to solve complex testing and process problems
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • HACCP Certified
