Grandma Hoerner's Foods, Inc. is a bottling processing facility that has a team that creates, and produces natural and organic delicious foods. We have been providing our products for our nation’s top grocery retailers for over 30 years.
We are currently looking for an outstanding candidate for our Food Safety Quality Manager position. We offer an opportunity to work with a company that has stability and resources of long-term employment.
SUMMARY:
The Food Safety & Quality Programs Manager will act primarily as the Food Safety Team Leader and be responsible for maintaining all plant food safety and quality programs and certifications including the ISO FCCC 22000 certification, Organic certification, and compliance with all regulatory and/or customer driven requirements. This individual will work closely with Grandma Hoerner’s Process Authority and be responsible for filing and maintaining any scheduled processes with FDA.
Every aspect of plant operation that affects Food Safety will be included in the position’s area of influence, and scope of responsibility. The Food Safety & Quality Programs Manager will serve as the primary onsite PCQI, and HACCP expert, and lead the internal HACCP and food safety training efforts.
This position has management responsibilities over the Quality Assurance team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and update Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Programs.
- Serve as lead company representative for all plant audits and audit response. This may include regulatory agencies, certifying bodies, customer driven audits, and more.
- Lead the company Food Safety/HACCP Team, and all associated duties under the Food Safety Management System. Work to diligently ensure compliance and timely response, analysis, and corrective actions to all internal and external non-conformance findings or food safety events.
- Work closely with Process Authority to ensure compliance and proper filing and update/maintenance of all FDA scheduled processes and process deviations for Acidified Foods.
- Write/Proof/Revise/Maintain/Train Food Safety and Quality Policies, Procedures, Documentation, and Systems.
- Develop/Implement/Coach/Train/Maintain Quality Assurance and Sanitation Staff, and all related programs
- Scheduling and record keeping for routine and non-routine testing and food safety/quality system validation.Examples:
Water testing, Internal Micro testing, Environmental testing, Sanitation Validation Study, etc.
- Create and/or Maintain Ingredient and Finished Good Specifications.
- Participate either as primary or secondary individual responsible for handling of customer complaints, evaluation, and response.
- Serve as primary product traceability and recall coordinator.
- Provide guidance on process, plant, equipment, and facility changes as they relate to food safety or quality programs.
- Must be able to coach staff, management, and plant guests in application of Good Manufacturing Practices (21CFR110) at Grandma Hoerner’s.
- Review all finished good labels (current and new) to ensure regulatory and 3rd party certifying body compliance for all claims and nutritional information.
- Walk the facility, grounds, and plant floor every workday.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- PCQI Certified
- Better Process Control School
- Proficient in Microsoft Access
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related discipline.
- 1+ year experience with management and maintenance of a Global Food Safety Initiative bench-marked Food Safety Scheme (SQF, BRC, FSSC22000)
- 2+ Years industry experience as HACCP Practitioner in a Food Safety or Quality Assurance management role.
