Overview
Guan’s Mushroom is seeking a hands-on Food Safety & Quality Specialist to support our specialty mushroom operations across farm, packing, and warehouse facilities. This role plays a key part in ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and product quality throughout the entire production process.
This position develops, implements, and maintains food safety and quality systems in alignment with PrimusGFS, FSMA, HACCP principles, and organic certification standards, while supporting daily operational activities.
Qualifications
- 2–4+ years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or a related field (preferably in agriculture, fresh produce, or food production)
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles, including development and implementation of HACCP plans
- Experience supporting or maintaining compliance with PrimusGFS, FSMA, and organic certification standards
- Experience conducting internal and/or third-party food safety audits
- Working knowledge of SOP development, GMPs, sanitation programs, and traceability systems
- Experience in farm, packinghouse, or food processing environments strongly preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required) with ability to train and communicate with Spanish-speaking teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation and maintain compliance readiness
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify risks and implement corrective actions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar systems
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality programs across farm, packing, and warehouse operations
- Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and food safety documentation
- Develop and maintain HACCP plans, including hazard analysis, CCP identification, monitoring, verification, and validation activities
- Conduct internal audits and support third-party audits (e.g., FDA, local regulatory agencies, organic certifiers, and customer audits)
- Ensure compliance with PrimusGFS, FSMA, HACCP principles, and organic certification requirements
- Maintain audit-ready documentation, logs, and traceability records
- Support sanitation, hygiene, environmental monitoring, microbiological testing, and pest control programs
- Manage traceability systems and coordinate mock recall exercises
- Identify food safety risks and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support employee training on food safety practices, SOPs, and HACCP principles
- Deliver training and communication in both English and Spanish to support workforce needs
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2–4+ years of experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or a related field, preferably in agriculture, fresh produce, or food production environments

- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles, including experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HACCP plans
- Familiarity with PrimusGFS, FSMA, and organic certification requirements
- Experience preparing for and supporting internal and third-party audits, including regulatory and customer audits
- Working knowledge of food safety systems, including SOPs, GMPs, sanitation programs, and compliance requirements
- Experience with produce, agriculture, or perishable food operations strongly preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required), with the ability to effectively communicate and train a primarily Spanish-speaking workforce
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage documentation and maintain audit readiness
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PrimusGFS or other GFSI-recognized certification schemes
- HACCP certification and/or PCQI certification
- Experience with organic handling and certification compliance

Pay: $70,304.00 - $90,000.00 per year
