REQUIRED EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduate; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

A minimum of five years' experience in school food service or a related field

Experience in a supervisory or management capacity involving menu planning, estimation of food requirements, requisition of supplies and supervision of food preparation and service desired
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have current government issued identification

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
General Summary
Assists Field Supervisors and Director in the management, supervision, planning, organizing, and marketing of the School Food Service Program. Assists in appropriate training of food service personnel. Assists managers in the development and maintenance of a sound and fiscally solid School Food Service Program in accord with state and federal regulations. Conducts such duties as handling confidential files and documents, word processing, data entry, establishing and maintaining files and records, answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, etc.
Essential Functions

Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.

Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information and handles confidential documents and conversations in an appropriate manner.

Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required. This includes, but is not limited to professional development and departmental and district staff meetings. This may include local travel and occasional overnight travel in regards to conferences.

Provides technical support for all ordering, purchasing, and point of sale software (Linq, Boss, Health-e Pro, FFavors, etc) and manages and tracks all maintenance support tickets for the Food Service Technicians. .

Develops special projects and maintains calendars and monitoring for managers and frontline staff such as monthly ordering calendars, National School Lunch/Breakfast Weeks, School Lunch Hero Day, Special food and event days.

Works with Director, Field Supervisors, and Lexington One Communications Team to update social media, internal and external newsletters, surveys, and communications.

Assists with the training and implementation of the Local/District Wellness Policy, Afterschool Snack Program and Summer Food Service Program,and Annual administrative reviews.

Assists managers and cashiers in the maintenance of necessary records of food service operations at the cafeteria level including coordinating training sessions and assists with hands-on training.

Provides assistance in administrative areas such as compiling data, verifying records and reports for accuracy, and providing information and assistance to stakeholders, including but not limited to parents/guardians, administrators, and district personnel.

Review and understand the latest Income Guidelines from the USDA in regards to Eligibility Requirements including SNAP, TANF, Medicaid and other Source Categorically Eligible.

Understands the USDA Guidelines from the USDA in regards to School Food Nutrition, including, but not limited to the National School Breakfast Program, the National School Lunch Program, After School Snack Program, Community Eligibility Program, Seamless Summer Program, Community Eligibility Program and Summer Food Service Program.

Works closely with the State Department of Education and various state agencies to compile and report data to include all training requirements, district policy statements, memos, etc.. annually as part of the application process.

Compiles and verifies data, records and reports for accuracy, composes letters of correspondence, provides research assistance, provides information and assistance to employees, monitors and orders office supplies as needed, etc.

Prepares a wide variety of records and reports related to departmental functions including, but not limited to, standard operating procedures for departmental/managerial/operational tasks and departmental and state required forms.

Effectively communicates district, state and federal policies, procedures and operations.

Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.

Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of pertinent information and communication.

Supervisory Responsibility
Budgetary responsibility as delegated by supervisors. No supervisory responsibility.
OTHER SKILLS And ABILITIES
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Lexington County School District One Board policies. Must be able to access reliable transportation.
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district that pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of school policies, procedures, and operations. Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies used in daily activities. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties. Ability to anticipate work to be completed and to complete work without the need for direct supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records and information. Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, teachers, students, and the general public.
Personal computer experience required. Strong knowledge of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, the internet, and reporting and presentation software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to apply knowledge and current research and theory. Ability to organize and implement a flexible work schedule in order to meet reporting deadlines. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group. Ability to submit all requested reports and documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with scheduled deadlines. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required of the employee. Computer literacy required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Occasionally the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours. Duties of the job require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.

The noise level in the work environment for this position varies. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day.
