Position Overview
The Foreman – Press Shop is responsible for supervising daily press shop operations, managing manpower, ensuring safe machine operation, meeting production targets, and maintaining quality standards in all press-related activities. The role involves overseeing press machines (mechanical/hydraulic), tooling, dies, and ensuring smooth workflow in sheet metal/forming operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Press Shop Operations
- Oversee setup, operation, and monitoring of press machines (mechanical, hydraulic, power presses).
- Ensure proper loading/unloading of materials and smooth workflow.
- Coordinate tooling/die changes to avoid downtime.
- Verify machine parameters and stroke settings before start-up.
2. Production Planning & Target Achievement
- Execute daily production plans and achieve output targets.
- Allocate manpower and balance workload across press machines.
- Track hourly production and take corrective action for delays.
3. Tool, Die & Machine Handling
- Ensure proper maintenance and handling of dies, tools, and fixtures.
- Coordinate with tool room/maintenance for die repairs, sharpening, or breakdowns.
- Inspect dies for wear and tear and prevent damage through proper usage.
4. Quality Assurance
- Ensure components produced meet quality specifications and tolerances.
- Conduct in-process inspections and first-piece approval.
- Identify defects like burrs, cracks, misalignment, over-forming, etc.
- Implement corrective actions in coordination with QA team.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety practices: guards, sensors, PPE, lockout-tagout procedures.
- Prevent unsafe operations and ensure machine guarding compliance.
- Conduct safety briefings and regular audits within the press shop.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.
6. Manpower Supervision
- Manage operators, helpers, and technicians in the press shop.
- Train operators on machine operation, die setting, and quality checks.
- Monitor discipline, attendance, and skill performance of team members.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain production reports, rejection logs, die-change records, and downtime notes.
- Update daily press shop performance in ERP or production system.
- Report breakdowns, quality issues, and material shortages to relevant departments.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for cycle time reduction and productivity improvement.
- Support Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and lean initiatives.
- Suggest improvements in tooling, methods, and workflow.
Qualifications & Experience
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Tool & Die, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in press shop operations.
- Strong knowledge of power press, hydraulic press, dies, and sheet metal components.
- Experience in die setting, machine operation, and safety protocols.
Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on knowledge of press machines and tooling.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerances.
- Strong leadership and shop floor management skills.
- Good problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards, 5S, and basic quality tools.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
