Foreman - Commercial Landscape Construction

Job Overview:
Bluestem Outdoor Services is seeking dependable and hardworking Foreman to join our team. The Foreman is a hands-on field leader responsible for performing landscape construction work while directing and coordinating crew activities on commercial projects. This position spends the majority of the workday actively engaged in production alongside crew members, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to company quality standards. The Foreman leads by example, maintaining productivity, workmanship, and accountability on every job site.

Responsibilities:
- Work alongside crew members daily performing landscape construction tasks.
- Lead by example through safe work practices, productivity, and quality workmanship.
- Direct and coordinate daily crew activities to meet production goals and project schedules.
- Assign tasks based on crew capabilities, equipment availability, and project priorities.
- Train crew members on installation methods, equipment operation, and company standards while actively participating in the work.
-Monitor crew productivity and adjust labor resources as needed to maintain efficiency.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with other landscaping and construction-related duties as assigned.

Construction & Installation

Personally perform and oversee installation of:

- Irrigation systems
- Planting of trees, shrubs, and groundcovers
- Sod, seed, and turf establishment
- Site grading and soil preparation
- Drainage systems
- Site amenities, and specialty features

Quality Control

- Continuously inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with plans and specificaitons.
- Correct deficiencies immediately and provide on-the-job coaching.
- Ensure projects meet company quality standards before inspection or turnover.

Performance Expectations

-Spend approximately 75–90% of work hours actively engaged in production activities.
- Safely lead crews while maintaining high levels of productivity and workmanship.
- Meet or exceed labor budget and production targets.
- Complete projects according to plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Develop crew members through hands-on training and mentorship.
- Maintain a positive, accountable, and production-focused work environment.

Safety & Compliance

- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain safe jobsite conditions.
- Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Equipment & Material Management

- Operate and oversee the use of construction equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, loaders, and utility vehicles.
- Monitor material usage and inventory.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of company equipment and tools.
- Verify material deliveries and manage jobsite storage.

Qualifications

Required:
- 3–5 years of commercial landscape construction experience.
- Minimum 1–2 years of crew leadership or supervisory experience.
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred:

- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience towing trailers and operating heavy equipment.
- Experience with large-scale commercial, municipal, educational, healthcare, or industrial projects.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel to job sites as needed.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
