Job Summary
Tripeak Contractors Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Foreman - Heavy Civil Construction. This position will lead and supervise a crew performing excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation work for residential, commercial, and public works projects. The ideal candidate will have 10 years experience in the industry, 5 years experience as a foreman, be a proficient equipment operator, possess a strong work ethic, and be capable of leading crews up to 10 people.
Duties
- Supervise, lead, motivate, and manage a crew of 2-10 people performing grading, excavation, and underground utility projects.
- Build projects to applicable plans, specifications, state and local codes and standards.
- Ensure proper trenching, shoring, and excavation safety practices are followed at all times
- Comfortable working outdoors in constantly changing environment including traffic, job site layout, weather, and soil conditions.
- Timecards and daily reports – track time and quantities and complete daily job diary
- Coordinate trucks, equipment, materials, and manhours to maintain efficient workflow
- Complete pre-task plans, job hazard analysis, lessons learned debrief for specific project requirements
- Operate heavy equipment including: excavators up to 100k lbs, dozers up to 80k lbs, graders, compacting rollers, wheel loaders up to 4cy, backhoes, articulated trucks, telehandlers.
- Other duties as assigned
Project specific job duties may include but are not limited to:
- Install underground wet and dry utilities including storm, sewer, water, conduit, manholes, vaults.
- Road excavation and grading including equipment and methods utilized, number of trucks required, aggregate base materials, knowledge of wearing courses
- Structure excavation and backfill including footings, walls, and vertical foundations.
- Erosion control and final stabilization include installation and maintenance of BMPs
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years experience heavy civil construction experience with 5 years experience in foreman role
- Ability to read plans, details, and specifications
- Ability to read survey staking and layout
- Ability to perform basic math to calculate grades, slopes, cut/fill, etc.
- Ability to set up and use rotary lasers, pipe lasers, GPS grade control equipment
- Ability to delegate, make informed decisions, be self-sufficient, and work with minimal direction
- Ability to perform all duties of positions supervised (Power Equipment Operator, Laborer, Pipe Layer).
- Experience coordinating with inspectors, municipalities, and subcontractors
- Experience installing underground utilities including sanitary sewer, storm drains, water mains, conduit.
- Experience with trench safety, shoring systems, and OSHA excavation standards
- Current certification in Confined Space, Competent Person, First Aid/CPR preferred
- Topcon GPS experience preferred
- Must have valid driver's license with an clean driving record. Class A CDL preferred.
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays dictated by project needs. Ideal candidates will be available to work 40+ hours per week.
