Forensic APP (Nurse Practitioner/PA)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our specialized forensic team as a regional (exempt/salary) part-time Forensic APP. Schedule options are 7on/7off or 3/4 split . 5 hour shifts per work day.

Examiners respond from their residence utilizing issued forensic equipment if dispatched during their shift to respond to any of the Southwest Ohio area hospitals or alternate locations to perform a detailed forensic examination. Forensic APPs assist in investigation of criminal cases, obtaining forensic photography, providing advanced medical assessments, biological trace sample collection, speculum examination and detailed documentation. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine forensic science with an advanced practice provider skill set. Forensic examinations may include patients reporting sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, strangulation, perpetrator exams and may be conducted at various sites.

Salary:

-Salary (exempt) position, based on experience

Forensic Examiner Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and assessments of individuals involved in forensic investigations, including trauma evaluations and injury documentation/photography
• Collect, process, and document biological specimens or evidence following strict aseptic techniques and chain-of-custody protocols
• Assist in forensic procedures such as maintaining sterile environments, forensic photography, utilization of an alternative light source for DNA detection, forensic medico-legal assessments
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, attorneys, APPs and physicians to provide expert medical insights relevant to criminal investigations
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using a custom forensic EMR
• Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings based on thorough case documentation and findings
• Support ongoing training in areas such as forensic trauma medicine, infectious disease care as applicable to our population foci

Requirements

• Valid Ohio APRN, PA licensure with minimum 1 year experience, with preferred experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, infectious disease or women's health
• Must reside within the southwest Ohio area
• Valid Driver's License with no suspensions within the last 5 years
• Current automobile insurance
• Criminal record check required
