As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to unload, load, and move bulk materials and finished products within the warehouse. You will also be tasked with identifying damages, reporting shortages or quality deficiencies, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

The Forklift Operator is a key player in our shop, ensuring smooth operations and contributing to the success of our projects. This role includes responsibilities across several areas, including inventory management, project facilitation, safety enforcement, facilities upkeep and purchasing.

Additionally, you will assist with loading outbound shipments and other project facilitation tasks as needed in the operations departments.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Control:
  • Receives incoming shipments of materials for all departments.
  • Assists with loading outbound shipments as needed.
  • Takes a weekly count of all sheet goods in the shop and reports on-hand numbers to the Purchasing Manager or Lead Operator
  • Maintains organized storage racks to facilitate easy tracking of inventory levels.
  • Informs Purchasing Manager / Lead Operator of any unforeseen inventory shortages that occur between inventory counts.

Project Facilitation:
  • Supplies CNC, fabrication, metal, and millwork departments with all materials needed to fabricate projects.
  • Works with the Lead Operator to create cut piles for specific jobs for easier cutting.
  • Assists with other project facilitation as needed.
Safety Enforcement:
  • Ensures safety standards are followed on the shop floor.
  • This includes ensuring licensed forklift drivers operate the forklift,proper safety equipment is used, and safety protocols are followed for all internal shop projects.
  • Organizes inventory in racks to comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Clears debris and other scraps that could present a safety hazard when operating on the shop floor.
  • Reports any observed safety violations to the Purchasing Manager.
Facilities Responsibilities:
Assists with forklift operations to put trash into dumpsters daily from 8 am - 9am.
Purchasing Responsibilities:
  • Receives inbound materials and shipments.
  • Manages requests for materials to be pulled.
  • Oversees inventory management.
  • Handles the transfer of goods between main building and metal workshop.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent forklift operating experience.
  • Valid forklift certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 40 to 60 pounds.
  • Must possess Steel-Toe Safety Boots for workplace safety compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards related to forklift operation.
