Forklift Operator

Summary/Objective

· THE FORKLIFT OPERATOR WILL OPERATE AN INDUSTRIAL FORKLIFT TRUCK TO ACCOMPLISH VARIOUS MATERIALS HANDLING ASSIGNMENTS. THIS POSITION REPORTS TO THE OPERATIONS MANAGER.

Duties

· Drives sit-down forklift, and other industrial vehicles as needed.

· Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations within the facility – including inbounding pallets every morning.

· Ensures the safe and efficient movement of goods.

· Follows safety regulations and company guidelines.

· Checks that loads are centered and properly stacked.

· Reports any problems with materials or transportation to supervisor.

· Manages skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.

· Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to Operations Manager.

· Ensure forklifts are watered every Monday morning, as well as completing the forklift safety checklist for all active lifts daily.

· Ensure Forklifts are parked appropriately and plugged in for charge. On Fridays ensure that the “Equalize Charge” is engaged on all lifts.

· Maintains clean work area.

· Performs other related duties as requested.

Data Security

· Make sure all loose hard drives and storage mediums are securely stored for data security. Strictly adhere to the standard Sycamore data security policies.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse production environment. This role requires sitting for extended periods of time during the day. This role routinely requires the use of computers, Mac OS, Windows, the Microsoft Office suite, and a custom relational database used for asset tracking.

Driving on company business and/or driving a company vehicle or operating a forklift while under the influence of intoxicants and other drugs (which could impair driving/operating ability) is forbidden and is sufficient cause for discipline, up to and including termination of employment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functional of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, lift up to 50 lbs and walk around the facility to perform their basic job functions. The employee must have the ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, operating from 9:00am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday, five days per week. Extended hours on site and off site may be required during busy periods.

Required Education and Experience

1. Ability to read and understand packaging, shipping documents and safety guidelines.

2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

3. Ability to perform basic math.

4. Excellent hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, and ability with spatial relationships.

5. Excellent time management skills.

6. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

7. Attention to detail.

8. Working knowledge of basic tools and vehicle maintenance a plus.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Previous warehouse experience

2. Prior experience as a forklift operator

3. Forklift certification – or ability to satisfactorily pass a forklift training program and on-site test.

4. High school diploma or GED

5. Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly.

6. Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
