The ideal candidate is resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable working under pressure in remote or challenging environments. You will think on your feet to get the product working, document areas for improvement, and work with the engineering team to develop fixes, sometimes even fabricating and implementing solutions on-site.
This is a critical role that bridges the gap between product engineering and field operations, ensuring our systems operate reliably and safely in the harshest conditions.
Deploy and install Quartermaster AI systems on vessels worldwide, ensuring proper operation and configuration.
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with hardware and system performance during field operations.
Identify and implement quick fixes to keep systems operational.
Provide engineering support to the field operations team during installations and maintenance.
Document areas for design improvement and provide actionable feedback to the engineering team.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and implement long-term fixes and improvements.
Occasionally fabricate custom solutions on-site using available materials and tools.
Develop and deliver technical training to field operators and customers to ensure smooth system operation.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, fixes, and lessons learned.
Qualifications (Preferred):
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in field engineering, hardware deployment, or similar hands-on roles.
Experience working in maritime or other challenging environments (e.g., offshore, military, aerospace), or willingness to adapt to them.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience with rapid prototyping, fabrication, and field repair.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to improvise solutions in the field.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including internationally and in remote locations.
Comfortable working in challenging physical environments (e.g., shipboard, exposed to weather).
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and make decisions in high-pressure situations.
Work Environment:
Extensive global travel required (up to 80%).
Work on ships and in remote locations.
Collaboration will occur via online tools, with occasional team meetings.
The role may require availability outside standard working hours during deployments.
