Basic Function:
The Foundation Studio Technician collaborates closely with the Foundation Program Chair and Foundation Faculty to support the delivery of the Foundation curriculum, enhance the first-year student experience, and ensure the effective operation and maintenance of Foundation studios. This role serves as a key resource for students and faculty, supporting studio-based learning through technical assistance, organization, and stewardship of shared spaces and materials.
Responsibilities:
Oversee model booking for Drawing courses in both fall and spring semesters
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Foundation classrooms and storage closets
Provide support for technology needs related to studio and foundation classes
Assist faculty and students with studio needs as requested
Ensure adequate supplies by ordering and maintaining inventory
Coordinate with faculty to ensure supplies are delivered to the appropriate storage area
Manage equipment student sign-outs in collaboration with the library and foundation faculty
Document student work upon request by the program chair and/or faculty
Support Foundation exhibitions and end-of-semester reviews
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Art, Design, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
1+ year of relevant studio, academic, or technical support experience preferred
Familiarity with artistic processes and studio practices, with the ability to uphold safety and best practices
Experience with Apple products, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace required
Skills and Abilities:

Essential Functions & Work Environment
This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in accordance with applicable federal and state law. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, maintaining and organizing Foundation studio spaces and storage areas; supporting students and faculty in a studio-based learning environment; coordinating model scheduling and equipment sign-outs; monitoring and managing studio supplies and inventory; providing basic technical and technology support; documenting student work; and communicating effectively with students, faculty, and staff in person and electronically. The role also requires standing, walking, and moving throughout studio and classroom spaces for extended periods; performing routine cleaning and upkeep of shared studio environments; and handling, transporting, and organizing materials and equipment.
The work environment is primarily an on-site Foundation studio setting with frequent interaction with students and faculty. The role involves regular exposure to art materials, studio tools, dust, and varying noise levels typical of creative studio environments and requires adherence to applicable safety practices. The position may require occasional lifting of materials or equipment (generally up to 25 pounds), as well as bending, reaching, and navigating shared studio, classroom, and storage spaces.
