About Keeper
Most Americans were never taught how money works. No one explained taxes, deductions, or how to keep more of what you earn, and yet we're handed a complex tax code to navigate on our own. On top of that, the economy is shifting. The rise of freelancing, gig work, and solopreneurship means more Americans than ever are earning self-employment income. That means navigating 1099s, quarterly taxes, and business deductions entirely on their own, and leaving thousands of dollars on the table every tax season.
Keeper is on a mission to change that — to use AI to make taxes easier for for middle-class Americans who’ve graduated from DIY filing software, but aren’t ready to fork over $1000s for a personal accountant. Uncover and track deductions automatically, track income (coming soon!), handle your quarterly taxes, get tax advice from a CPA, and file your taxes in one place.
The Role
We're looking for a Tax Content Lead who is equal parts credentialed tax expert and natural entertainer. You won't just know taxes, you'll make people actually want to learn about them. This role is for someone who loves the craft and the strategy: you’re interviewing customers, writing content, and stepping in front of the camera.
You'll become the face of Keeper across video, podcasts, social (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), and the communities where our users already live.
This role is a contract-to-hire position with a clear path to full-time employment. The contract period is designed to be a mutual audition: you get to see how we work, we get to see what you create, and we make the full-time decision based on real outcomes and impact.
- During the contract period, you'll be paid a competitive hourly or monthly retainer commensurate with your experience.
- Full-time conversion comes with salary, equity, and benefits.
- While the role is remote, the marketing and creative team are based in San Francisco and Seattle. Our preference is for someone based in these areas, who can work on-site when needed.
What You'll Do Your 1st 3 Months
Create content that connects
- Translate dense, confusing tax topics into clear, compelling, scroll-stopping content
- You can write, edit, and understand what makes a hook land and why some videos get 100 views and others get 100,000.
- Develop a consistent on-camera presence and point of view that audiences trust and return to
- Stay on top of trending content formats and know how to adapt tax storytelling to what's working right now and adjust content formats by platform (i.e., short-form video on Instagram reels/TikTok versus long-form video on YouTube).
Be a tax authority
- Speak confidently and accurately on topics including deductions, self-employment tax, quarterly estimated payments, filing strategies, and more
- Ensure all content is technically sound and reflects current tax law
- Serve as an internal resource and sanity-check for tax accuracy across Keeper's content
Plus, after your 1st 3 months...
Be the face of Keeper
- Host and narrate video content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and wherever our audience is watching
- Test and scale new formats including video, webinars, podcasts, and social-first content (interview-style podcasts, street interviews, explainer series, and seasonal tax campaigns)
- Help own content strategy and execution across case studies, webinars, blogs, and social
- Partner with founder and marketing to shape narratives and bring ideas to market
Own community engagement
- Show up authentically in spaces like Reddit (r/personalfinance, r/freelance, r/tax), Twitter/X, and other communities where our users ask questions
- Dispense thoughtful, accurate, brand-aligned tax advice that builds trust and drives awareness
- Identify recurring questions and pain points from real users to inform future content
Who You Are
- Credentialed: You hold a CPA, CFP, EA and can keep it current (0-2 years)
- Natural on camera: You're comfortable, engaging, and authentic in front of a lens.
- Chronically online: You understand what makes content perform. You watch a lot of it, you have opinions about it, and you know the difference between content that educates and content that converts
- Strong storyteller: You have excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills with a “viral” sense; you can break down a complex tax concept for a first-year freelancer or solopreneur and make it feel approachable without dumbing it down
- Community-first: You actually enjoy engaging with strangers on the internet
- Self-directed: You can own a content calendar, manage your own deadlines, and bring fresh ideas without waiting to be asked
- Scrappy: You’re energized by zero to one work, ambiguity and figuring out the playbook as you go
Nice to Have
- A personal track record i.e., followers on your socials or anything that’s gotten meaningful reach that demonstrates existing audience or creator experience (YouTube, TikTok, newsletter, podcast, etc.)
- Experience working with or for a high-growth consumer/prosumer brand
- Familiarity with tools like Descript, CapCut, or video editing basics
- Have a setup where you’ll be able to film content
Why This Role
- Rare chance to build a public-facing brand with real reach and a meaningful mission behind it
- Clear conversion path to full-time with competitive salary
- Remote-first, with preference for San Francisco / Seattle, where marketing and creative team are based for on-site collaborations
- Work alongside a sharp, fast-moving team that cares about the product as much as the content
About the interview
- 20 minute intro call
- Share your portfolio of content (if you have one) and complete a content brief
- Meet with the marketing and creative team
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
Work Location: Remote
