Freelance Copywriter and Editor

Job Summary
Aha! Editorial is seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable freelance copywriter to support ongoing client work. This role is writing-heavy, with editing as a secondary responsibility.

You’ll primarily work on content for one established client, with opportunities to contribute to additional projects over time.

This is a part-time contract role with flexible hours. We’re hiring either:

  • One contractor (~19 hours/week), or
  • Two contractors (~10 hours/week each)

While your schedule is flexible, you must have some availability between 9 a.m.–4 p.m. PT for occasional collaboration.

Compensation: $25–$30/hour

Duties

  • Write blog posts and email content (typically based on provided outlines)
  • Adapt writing to match a specific brand voice, tone, and structure
  • Pull insights and source material from existing content (blogs, podcasts, etc.)
  • Conduct light research to support content accuracy and depth
  • Write YouTube descriptions for podcast episodes (may be assigned or split across team members)
  • Follow AP style guidelines and adhere to client-specific house style guides
  • Collaborate via Trello and internal systems to manage assignments and deadlines

Optional (based on interest/skillset):

  • Format and schedule blogs, emails, and podcast content
  • Assist with light content operations and publishing workflows

What We’re Looking For

Core Skills

  • Strong, clear, and engaging writing ability (this is the top priority)
  • Ability to follow detailed outlines and execute on structure
  • Comfortable writing within an established voice
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Word

Mindset & Work Style

  • Highly coachable and receptive to feedback
  • Quick learner who can rapidly adapt to new styles, systems, and expectations
  • Organized and reliable with deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently while staying aligned with direction
  • Tech-savvy and able to learn new tools quickly

Nice-to-Have (Not Required)

  • Experience writing in the fitness, gym, or business coaching space
  • Personal interest in fitness or gym culture
  • Experience with WordPress and/or ActiveCampaign
  • Experience supporting content publishing or marketing operations

Tools You’ll Use

  • Trello (project management)
  • Google Workspace
  • Microsoft Word

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
