This role focuses on researching, promoting, and evaluating strategies to foster reading for pleasure.
· Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research studies related to reading for pleasure in school and community settings. Design focus groups and feedback strategies to allow us to gather feedback and information to help direct the choice of books and activities to enable us to carry out the RFP strategy.
· Develop data collection tools and methods (e.g., classroom observations, student surveys, teacher interviews, parent focus groups).
· Analyze research data using appropriate statistical and qualitative methods and interpret findings.
· Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing research on reading for pleasure, literacy development, and related areas.
· Assess the activities related to RFP and how well they are being implemented and received.
· To support educators, parents, and community members in promoting reading for pleasure.
· Collaborate with educators, librarians, parents and community organizations to implement and evaluate reading for pleasure initiatives.
· Be present for school activities arranged by RFP and also where appropriate, at the school events pertaining to reading.
· Help facilitate external research work and liaise with research teams to aid their activities in schools so that they can achieve their goals.
· Prepare research reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate findings to a variety of audiences, including academic, professional, and public audiences.
· Manage research projects effectively, including developing timelines, budgets, and evaluation plans.
· Contribute to the development of the team's overall strategy for promoting reading for pleasure.
· Stay informed about current research and best practices in reading for pleasure and literacy development.
· Suggest and implement ways and strategies to ensure that RFP can be put into best practice within schools, follow this and provide feedback on best practices.
· Collate worldwide research on RFP and use this to help develop the overall RFP strategy.
· Work on copy for the website to develop it as a portal and platform of best practices
· Create social media posts to showcase the developments in the RFP initiative and activities undertaken.
